About Bola
A life shaped by care, courage and making things possible.
Bola John is a medical doctor, social impact founder, strategist, entrepreneur and creative whose work is united by a commitment to helping people feel seen, heard and able to shape their own futures.
Bola, in her own words
I have learned that care can be clinical, communal, creative and deeply practical.
My medical training taught me to pay attention to the whole person. Community leadership in Nigeria showed me what becomes possible when people organise around shared responsibility. Relocating to the UK made questions of identity, belonging and rebuilding personal as well as professional.
Those experiences led me to found New Roots, Strong Wings, to explore maternal-health equity and responsible technology, and to contribute to conversations on women’s leadership, migration and social change.
Creativity has always sat alongside this work. Art, photography and hair are not separate from strategy or health. They are ways of understanding identity, restoring confidence and creating room for expression.
Motherhood and seasons of rebuilding have deepened my belief that resilience is not simply endurance. It is the ability to imagine, ask for support and begin again without losing tenderness.
